Welcome to Bear Cult Brewing Co. an addition to the Brimming Horn Meadery brought to you by Jon Talkington and Robert (JR) Walker. Here we celebrate the spirit of the bear and the rich history of beer brewing! Our brewery is named after the ancient Bear Cult, a historical tradition that dates back to the Paleolithic era, where bears were worshipped and celebrated for their strength, power, and wisdom. This tradition inspired us to create a brewery that honors the values of quality, craftsmanship, and community, and we are proud to share our passion for great beer with you.
Bear Cult Brewing Co. is led by two talented brewers, Jon Talkington and Shawn Hager. Jon is a seasoned beer maker with over 15 years of experience in the craft beer industry. He has worked as a professional Brewer at Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, one of the most well-known and respected craft breweries in the United States. Jon's beer brewing expertise and his passion for brewing have helped him succeed in the industry. He is also the Head Mead Maker at Brimming Horn Meadery, where he creates exceptional meads using traditional and non-traditional methods.
Shawn Hager (our assistant brewer) is a passionate homebrewer brewing beer for over a decade. He has worked at Xtreme Brewing-Beer and Wine Making Supplies, a homebrewing store, where he honed his skills and developed a passion for creating unique and innovative beers. Shawn's creativity and enthusiasm for brewing have made him a valuable asset to the Bear Cult Brewing Co. team.
Jon and Shawn bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the brewery. They are committed to brewing a wide variety of beer styles, from traditional golden ales, stouts, porters, brown ales, pale ales, mild ales, and Belgian ales, to non-traditional styles like Graf (malt and apple) and Braggot (malt and honey). They use only the finest ingredients and the latest brewing techniques to create unique and delicious beers that are sure to satisfy any palate.
Our brewing process is a labor of love, and we take great care in every step of the process. We start with the freshest ingredients,
sourced from local farmers and suppliers Whenever possible, and we use state-of-the-art equipment to ensure consistent quality and flavor. Jon and Shawn are passionate about their craft, and they work tirelessly to create beers that are both traditional and innovative, using techniques that have been passed down through generations of beer brewers.
In addition to our exceptional beers, we also offer a mug club, where members can enjoy discounts, special releases, and other exclusive perks.
